The Third World
The Third World Project deals with ecosystems and their way of existence and action. South American ecosystems represent a particular socio-political environment that goes through similar paternal development as the environment in which the artist is currently creating. Metaphorically using animals as representatives of society, she explores the connection of social events of states that are on different continents. The method of displaying animals is related to 18th and 19th century colonial painting. The aesthetics of tactility, accuracy provides a subtle commentary on the social, political and cultural environment. The comic metaphor, with its banality, sharply points to the absurdity of events that equally affect all systems in transition.
